when our lover from down under, mandy (oracle fox), gave us pom pom friendship bracelets,

Refusing any cocktails with sugar. Indulging in a pint size Pellegrino, non-fat latte, and fresh air.

Sarah's remedy:

Tortilla chips for breakfast. Done.

with so many family and friends gatherings lately, we've been really missing our favorite

Tomorrow is officially the first day of winter. . . . for us here in Southern California that doesn't mean SNOW!! It is every California girl's dream to have a white Christmas. The shimmering magic of snowfall warms your heart whether it's outside your window or for us inside a tiny snow globe. Go ahead- shake up your imagination and try making one these wintery wonderlands.

HOW TO:
You’ll need a small jar – baby jar, mason jar, vintage jar, etc. Using epoxy, adhere a small plastic or ceramic figurine, animal, or tree onto the inside of the lid. Add distilled water and a dash of glycerin. Sprinkle in a little glitter. Either screw that lid on tight, or put some epoxy on the threads of the lid first to keep it sealed up. Flip it and shake!

Holiday travel plans?
This year my Christmas will be a whole lot different than the last 3 decades of my life. We are spending it in Mexico. We came to Sayulita, Mexico with 13 friends and babies 14 days ago with intentions of staying for 8 days, but my man, our baby and I are still here!! We can't leave. It's so beautiful and we are living the gypsy, free spirited, go where the wind takes us, lifestyle that I have always lusted after. We have now decided to stay for another 7 weeks. We will travel all around Mexico from Sayulita, to Guadalajara to see lil Jess, San Miguel Allende, Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, to the Island of Holbox, then Isla Mujeres, and who knows where else. That's what lies in the road ahead. We just keep meeting cool people along the way and see where each day takes us. I produce most of my clothing line down here, so I am working on my Summer and Fall 12 collections in between the beach and traveling around. It's all working out perfectly.

Favorite holiday snack recipes?
May be a bit different here than they are in the US. I'll go out today and ask about a few Mexican Christmas specialties and get back to you!

Favorite holiday drinky?
I have always loved to make Mistletoe Martinis, with a candy cane for the stirrer and baked pears, with a raw piece of cinnamon bark, covered in a nutmeg brandy flavored heavy whipping cream...

What does your stocking look like?
Our stockings are also a bit old fashion. They are long, thigh high, oversized knit striped socks. I could actually wear them as thigh highs sticking out of the top of some amazing boots and be Santa's naughty Mrs.Clause! Oh ha, that brings up a quirky thing about me. I am super adamant about having a really ugly outdated tree. I use those old, non halogen, very dangerous, oversized, primary colored, knobby bulbs. Remember them? The whole strand stops working if one bulb is out. Yeah, those are the bulbs I love on my trees. They take me right back to when I was a kid. Then my ornaments. None of them match. They are ugly and dorky. Santas on sleighs, snow globes with nativity scenes inside, Rudolph with a big red nose, the whole nine!

Signature gift wrapping?
I have a few methods. One is Planet Blue's signature, the organic looking brown box, a band of tissue, a decorative piece of origami paper and some raffia. The other is the brown box, dried roses, cellophane and raffia specialty, or another version of this is to use stolen lower branches off my Christmas tree in place of the dried rose pedals. People always love the Planet Blue wrapping. They come to Planet Blue and buy gifts, just to get the wrapping.

Last minute holiday shopper?
Being completely consumed and drawn in by the whole Christmas thing, you would think I would be totally prepared, shop early, decorate my house to the fullest and send out that yearly family Christmas card. Nope, none of the sort. I am the full last minute shopper. Have wonderful intentions of sending a family Christmas Card and never ever get around to it. I am super last minute. I have been very lucky for the past 14 years, I have worked at Planet Blue. So I buy about 80% of my gifts there on Christmas Eve, after we ring up our last minute shopper.

Holiday outfit?
I am not too prepared for my New Year's Eve outfit this time around. I only packed for 8 days and definitely did not pack for New Years. I'll most likely wear one of the new samples I am working on or my Jen's Pirate Booty Isis Poncho. I have that with me and love the way the fringe sways from side to side when I dance!!

Favorite holiday snack recipe?
I make a meannn vicious creamy cheesy broccoli and cauliflower casserole with panko breadcrumbs... yummm! And I love me some stuffing. lots and lots of stuffing. stuffed with stuffing.

Mimosas! All day every day. And some grandma baileys on the rocks. And maybe shots later in the night, if im too full and everything's getting soaked up. hahahaa

What does your stocking look like?
It's this really cheesy Christmas landscape with my name embroidered on it--- my aunt is crazy and likes them all to match even though we hate them.

Signature gift wrapping?
I LOVE me some gift wrapping--- every edge is perfect, double stick tape, the whole nine yards--- and I love using sticky letters to put directly on the box!

How you got on the nice list, we won't ask... But why were you on the naughty list?
I'm always on the naughty list. It's a way more exciting list to be on.

Him to put in a breath mint. hahaha just kidding... I'm up to my ears in clothes/accessories so I'm super into homewares right now.

I wish! All of my family lives near/in l.a., so I'm already home for the holidays!

Just eating and drinking till we can't keep our eyes open--- it's the italian way!

Nothing silk--- I always somehow spill something greasy on myself... usually just something comfy with an expandable waistband! hahahaaa

I like National Lampoons Holiday Vacation, Home Alone, Planes Trains and Automobiles... I usually fall asleep before the end anyway

For dessert, my famous fruit salad of apples, bananas, tangerine, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pear and walnuts drowned in sour cream mixed with sugar giving the deadliest addicting creamy tasting dressing ever, delicious!!! And of course, whats a holiday dinner without pie??? To accompany my salad, we have the two best seasonal pies, my favorites, cheesecake with fruit on top and pumpkin with whipping cream! Yum, hope my jeans fit me after a dinner like that!!!

What do you look forward to chowing down on?
To excite me even further I get to escape a constant diet of tacos and fajitas and come home on vacations to the best and biggest feast of the year!!! A 12 pound turkey cooked out on the grill with a beer in the butt to ensure the moistest and juiciest meat, then stuffed full of my moms favorite home made stuffing of cooked croutons soaked in Champagne, butter and honey with wild rice, sliced red delicious apples, walnuts, celery, mushrooms and garlic. Then we always have homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed spinach, spaghetti squash cooked with butter and brown sugar and sweet yams baked with brown sugar and honey until their like candy to the mouth. And to wash it all down, lets not forget those 3 bottles of champagne. Christmas dinner classic!

Holiday drinky!
Hot chocolate, spiced chia, moroccan mint, english breakfast, and cinnamon ginger tea late's... all with soy milk and honey or agave nectar. And of course it's the one time of year my favorite chocolate is in season and available everywhere, Mint Bark!!!!

Signature gift/gift wrapping?
Giving gifts means getting to let my creative juices flow and creating each person I love an original piece of jewelry made with much thought and love, or letting them choose a piece from my line, BornGypsy.
As for my wrapping job, what a prettier way to wrap then Planet Blue's own signature wrapping jobs, which for me comes naturally basically growing up in the store and wrapping gifts daily throughout my many years with the company. Religious to their ways, every gift represents a piece of art under the tree!!!

Favorite holiday snack recipes?You would NOT believe the casseroles my mother makes. Prepare yourself, this is heavy. Ingredients: Tater tots, ground beef, corn, cream of mushroom soup, crunchy fried onions and LOTS of salt.
Directions: First you line a glass casserole dish with the pre-cooked tater tots. Then you add in the middle the mixture of cooked ground beef, cream of mushroom soup and pre-cooked corn. Then sprinkle on those fried onions and throw it in the oven. Food from Minnesota is strange, what can I say.

Do you have any favorite holiday snack recipes? My nordic people have some yummy traditional recipes...My Mother and I make Norwegian Krumkake every year...its basically like a sweeter waffle cone...mmmmmmm. Here's the recipe.

Wassail! It smells amazing, and tastes even better!

What does your stocking look like?
It's colossal, actually- which I'm not mad about. My Great Aunt made them from Red, Green and White needlepoint in the 70's- and for the longest time I thought they were absolutely atrocious, but now I love it- I'd have it no other way...

Signature gift/gift wrapping?
I kill it w/ the wrapping, if I say so myself ;) It's a nice way to make even a so-so box of Trader Joes Candy Canes look amazing. I generally stick to a moire silver paper, and a nice bow, and add in a third element as well- another fancier french ribbon, a bit a sparkly tinsel, or glitter ribbon or a sprig of greens from the yard. You've got me thinking, maybe I should make a DIY for the blog?!

I LOVE me Holiday shopping...I'm also one of those weirdo Black-Friday people that you see on the news in Sweats at Best Buy at 3:27AM. I get this weird rush, sprinting thru the store for a $16.99 Dirt Devil. My friends laugh at me, but I bet they didn't buy their flatscreen for $174.00? heheh.

Holiday travel plans? So this year I'm lucky enough to be heading to Hawaii for my holidays and I'm superrr excited!!! It's been a massive year for Oracle Fox and I can't wait to get away and enjoy the sun, sand and surf! I've been to Hawaii for christmas before and the Aloha spirit just makes Christmas even more special, not to mention the Lava Flow cocktails, my favourite!!!

Favorite holiday snack recipes?

I won't be doing much cooking but I will be chowing down on the fresh Ahi and visiting my favourite mexican restaurant on the North Shore "Cholos".

Favorite holiday drinky?
If you want to make a Lava Flow at home it's really easy! All you need to do is make a basic Pina Colada, you can find a good recipe online and then add pureed Strawberries, being careful not to mix it in so you get that really nice red burst of colour sitting in the middle of a white pina colada, mmm it's delicous!

This year I don't have a big list of things that I want as my priority was ordering a new surfboard for our trip and all of my family have chipped in to make this come true and so I've ordered a custom board for the big waves by a Hawaiian shaper that I'm getting delivered to my hotel when I get to Hawaii, wooohoo merry Christmas!

You're really spending the holidays at home but telling everyone you're going to ....For Christmas day Sammy and I will be on Kauai and at the moment I think we'll just wing it for Christmas day! I'm thinking we'll probably spend the morning surfing while the sun rises then after breakfast we'll chill out before finding a cute little restaurant on the Kauaiian North Shore for some delicous food and drinks and a kiss under the mistle toe!

Mama Hall’s Christmas Morning Egg B ake- It consists of bread crumbs,sausage, eggs, and other key ingredients all baked together, serve with a mimosa and you are feeling good.

Favorite holiday drinky?

In the morning we like to warm things up to a Snuggler (peppermint schnapps and hot chocolate). In the evening we like spice things up with “Mrs. Claus Wildside Punch”, the main ingredient is tequila, the rest is history :)

What does your stocking look like?Gillian- My grandma sewed mine for me when I was a wee one, and it hung in there all these years, it basically has 3 ginormous bedazzled snowman on it, it’s awesome.
Laura- I also have a grandma sewn stocking. My sister and I all have matching santas playing with his reindeers, and of course name embroidered on so we don't fight over the good stuff.

Any Unusual Holiday Rituals?

Making it really hard to get into the presents! It’s something my dad started so we couldn’t peak at gifts when we were kids, and we continued the tradition. It can vary from putting the smallest item in a huge box filled with lots of smaller boxes you have to open to get to it, or it can be a clue in an envelope as to wear to find the present! It’s sometimes more exciting then the gift itself!

Holiday travel plans?We are both heading home to Jackson Hole, WY to hang with fam and friends. We are going to catch up on sleep, snowboarding, snugglers, hot tubbin’, and apres ski at our favorite local ski bars.

Holiday outfit?This Christmas we will most likely be wearing the Scarlet Dress, and we will most likely be matching, unplanned of course :)

This week at the pb headquarters, we held a cookie throwdown between our team
to see who could bake the best cookie in town. There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition...
especially when there's a planet blue gift card on the line!

The holidays to me = ultimate crafting time!! It's the most wonderful time of year because it gives me a reason to whip out my trusty glue gun, faux fur, jingle bells, and all of the trim + feathers that I can find. . . watch out Martha Stewart! Some things are tradition, like hanging your childhood stocking over the fireplace. Unfortunately for me, my parents sold all of our stockings at a garage sale years back and left me stocking-less. So every year I have a tradition all my own. . . I make one!! I have quite a collection going!! This year, I grabbed a pair of our fantastically colorful Peruvian Socks, glued trim on them, added some beaded fringe, a jingle bell, and a couple of vintage brooches. My plan for these bad boys is to fill them with little gifts like these and give them to my sisters for Christmas. Who wouldn't want a handmade stocking full of presents?

Once I finished my stockings, I went to hang them over the fireplace and said crap, I don't have anything to hang these from! I am an instant gratification type and was not going to run out to the store to buy those chunky stocking holders (plus I don't a mantle to set them on). So I made this garland using some extra jingle bells and twine, which everyone needs a ball of in their craft drawer/closet, trust me, I use it for EVERYTHING! Here is the deal:

Cut 3 long strands of twine

Braid the twine adding the jingle bells in as you go

Hang with nails or those sticky hooks by 3M

Loop your stockings onto the jingle bells
